Stereotypes

Darnell, Pablo, and Michael are all different names but who would think that all these names carry a stereotype. Darnell must be black man , and since he is black he is into rap music and must be gang affiliated. Pablo, a name that sounds hispanic means that he is a womanizer who worked at the nearest fast food resturant. And lastly, Michael, a white males name must mean that his parents are fairly wealthy and his hobbies must include surfing, snowboarding, or skating.
All of these prove that anyone whether they are black, white, hispanic, asian, or any other race fit into a certain category, a stereotype. Everyone is put into a category whether it be correct or not. Just because someone is of a different race does not mean that they cannot enjoy all types of other things. Because I am a black male I run into the stereotype of being a fast runner who is athletic. Additionally, because I am dating outside my race my girlfriend is automatically stereotyped as a bad girl. All stereotypes can be offensive, but when they are specifically toward myself I find it upsetting that I am being judged without being known.
